Design
Visualization Skills: An Identified Need
The
Architecture/Engineering Team, led by Steve Brown, College
of the Redwoods, established a focus of "design visualization" because
of the identified demand by employers for skilled workers
in this area and because of the void of instructional
resources and staff development events currently available
to faculty. Curriculum,
including 16 course modifications, was developed to
augment existing drafting and design curriculum with design
visualization concepts. The design visualization content
is intended to be integrated into the current curriculum
and includes ideas of how software might be used in
existing classes. In addition to the course modifications,
two courses were developed that focus entirely on the subject of design
visualization.
